The world needs blogs again

Like everybody else, the pandemic is "top of mind" 24 x 7 for me. I'm writing to help myself not internalize all of it. You can find other posts in the series at https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/tag/coronavirus.html

This is a really great point

Nowadays especially it's nice to have things to read. New things, things from various sources and various voices, various minds talking about their thoughts and experiences, telling their stories, posting pictures and things that are relevant to them. A couple of years ago, maybe 8 or 10 so maybe longer than a lot of people will be able to remember, there were blogs on the internet.

Right now, the Internet circa 2006 would be really useful. Between blog rolls and blog rings you could read all day every day and not keep running into the same update from your crazy racist uncle. You could read a long form article on something, and within that article there would probably be multiple links to related articles. The comments would mostly contain links back to the commenter's blog, where they would be writing actual words about stuff, with no racist memes blaming a guy that has been out of the job for over 3 years for the current job holders complete and utter failure to perform the duties of the job.

Yeah, that would be really great.

I like hearing from readers, all three of you! Nobody comments on blogs anymore, and I'd rather not use Facebook or Twitter as a comment system so it's back to the email.
