16th Anniversary Haiku

Sixteen years ago
The USSR collapsed
And we said "I do".
Until I started looking for inspiration for anniversary gifts this year, I had no idea that while we were saying I do, Gorbachev was tossed in jail in a coup that marked the end of the USSR. It turns out that the traditional anniversary gift guide starts counting in 5 year increments after the 15th anniversary. That probably doesn't get me off the hook for a present until year 20 though. My usual source of inspiration foiled, I decided to check out history on 8/19 to see if that sparked an idea.
It did.
Sadly, it's not a bottle of premium Russian vodka. I'd greatly enjoy that. Michelle, not so much.
