Mother's Day Pandemic Style

Like everybody else, the pandemic is "top of mind" 24 x 7 for me. I'm writing to help myself not internalize all of it. You can find other posts in the series at https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/tag/coronavirus.html
When my wife says I delivered a Mother’s Day unlike any she has ever experienced she isn’t wrong. Hopefully we’ll never have another Mother’s Day like this one again. We did get off the couch long enough for a family walk through the neighborhood, which was uneventful in that we only saw one or two people outside. It was 64F with crystal clear blue skies and a cool breeze today, not a day for hibernating. Maybe they were all off somewhere violating the social distancing expectations. I did grill steaks for dinner - using the “good” steaks from Omaha Steaks. They are damn good, but they should be for $9 a steak.
We watched the entire season 2 of Sunderland ‘Till I Die (Netflix) this afternoon. As a Southampton supporter I feel a spiritual connection to Sunderland fans. We both follow teams with an uncanny ability to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory.
I’ve been feeling a bit agitated and short tempered over the last few days. I wondered if maybe it was stress from too much news originating on social media, so I’ve spent about 5 minutes on Twitter today. It seems to have helped.
Michelle and I have been watching American Idol. The contestants are all singing from home. The last couple of seasons have been good as every finalist is crazy talented so the performances are crazy good every week. That also makes it a little boring though.
