Day 85

Like everybody else, the pandemic is "top of mind" 24 x 7 for me. I'm writing to help myself not internalize all of it. You can find other posts in the series at https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/tag/coronavirus.html

I was reading the manual for our new-to-us 2012 Ford Edge this afternoon and I found the features DVD, still shrink wrapped. What kind of monster buys a new car and doesn't watch the promo CD provided by the manufacturer? (Probably somebody that hasn't been mostly stuck at home for 85 days.) So we put it in the DVD player. It was extremely high level and not at all particularly useful or entertaining, but we did learn that the truck does not have a gas cap. So we at least learned something. We would have learned it eventually the first time we put gas in the vehicle, which will be the next time we drive it. Also, a DVD will apparently last 8+ years in the glove box. Good to know.

We left the state today, traveling about a mile into NC to visit a RV dealership. As we left Richmond on I-64E we were behind a wide load flagged truck hauling a huge fiberglass in-ground pool. He was doing 80 mph and using two lanes. As he came up on a slower vehicle in the middle lane he passed on the right with the centerline of the truck directly over the median. In short, he was driving like a maniac. The chase vehicles warning traffic of the wide load were having a hard time even keeping up. Also, my I-64 record is intact. In my 22 years in VA I have never ever driven on I-64 between Richmond and VA Beach without at least one road construction slow down.

In the last 6 days I've purchased a truck and a camper. I think I've done my part to stimulate the economy. Somebody else can start spending now. I'm done for the year.

I like hearing from readers, all three of you! Nobody comments on blogs anymore, and I'd rather not use Facebook or Twitter as a comment system so it's back to the email.
