I want to vacation in Schitt's Creek

Like everybody else, the pandemic is "top of mind" 24 x 7 for me. I'm writing to help myself not internalize all of it. You can find other posts in the series at https://odonnellweb.com/pelican/tag/coronavirus.html

We had pest control guys in the house today to drill a few holes through the concrete foundation in the hot water closet to pump the group under the house full of pesticides in a response to the termites that swarmed into the house via the gap around a drain pipe two weeks ago. Michelle stayed upstairs, and I was in my office with the door closed so it was a very minor inconvenience. However, neither of the pest control techs were wearing any PPE. They are wandering in and out of multiple houses a day. We are renters, so I didn’t feel like it was my place to make an issue out of it, but I can tell you would never recommend that particular firm, just based on lack of consideration they are showing customers, and the lack of concern for their own employees by not requiring their techs to be in PPE. It’s a locally owned company I think - not one of the big national brands.

Last night we finished up Schitt’s Creek. That is truly a wonderful TV show and you should absolutely watch it if you haven’t already. The set up is a 1% family from NY loses everything due to tax fraud and has to relocate to a one stoplight town in SC that they literally own after buying it as a joke. The IRS deems the town worthless so even they didn’t want it. I love that the show exists in a world where a gay relationship is completely unremarkable. There is no homophobia in the Schitt’s Creek universe. Every single character on the show accepts the gay relationship just as naturally as they’d accept the star QB marrying the head cheerleader.

If only we could all live in that universe.

Back in our universe, the asshole Trump supporters running Texas and Florida are actively trying to kill us all. I wish I could at least visit the Schitt's Creek universe. It's more pleasant there.
