If two years in a row makes a tradition, then we have a tradition of spending Black Friday on a trail, far from a mall. This year we went to Sky Meadows State Park to do a 8.4 mile loop hike. It was a perfect day, 60ish degrees and blue skies.
The trails are well marked and easy to follow. The first 1.7 miles are all uphill. After that is gets much easier.
It’s called Sky Meadows for for a reason. Most of the hike is in the woods. We hit the meadows towards the end.
It’s really in the foothills of the Appalachians. Sky Meadows is not quite in the mountains. They are just a few miles to the West. (This photo, and all the views on this hike, are to the east.)
We think this is a small mole? It had almost no tail, and a snout. It definitely was not a mouse or rat.
My hiking buddies for the day.
