The week’s music find: The August

I found them on Aime Street. Sadly, it’s probably the last new-to-me music I’ll ever find on Aime Street. (Aime Street is shutting down later this month)

Cute blond singer that also plays guitar…check.
Catchy songs that sort of dance on the country / rock /folk fence…check.
From Chicago…check.

Not sure why the Chicago thing is important, but I needed a third bullet point. They are currently in Nashville looking for a record deal, which makes me a little nervous that they will end up sounding too much like Lady A. I hope not. The rock edge to their music is what makes them, IMHO.

And check out this cover of Bobby McGhee.

Thanks for posting this, Chris. I’ve been pretty irritated with AmieStreet over downloading errors since they announced their demise.

I have been unable to use my remainining $25 credits and it is pretty much pisssing me off. I’ve recommended this site to so many of my indie-loving friends. It sucks that they are just disappearing…

It makes absolutely no sense. Why would Amazon buy the site then immediately shut it down?

    So what’s left? Emusic maybe?

I don’t think there will ever be another site with their pricing scheme. That’s what made AmieStreet so appealing to me — low risk.

I don’t know how you feel about blog awards so don’t feel like you have to respond, but I nominated you for one since I enjoy reading you so much. Here’s a link: http://lostpersonshomeschool.blogspot.com/2010/09/who-me.html. Thanks for being an amazing writer!
