ChristianCollegeGuide.net sent us a 32 page full color glossy magazine full of ads for small Christian colleges across the land. (We are ignoring the target marketing fail here. That is a whole ‘nother post) Check out the Photoshop job on the back cover. The back cover! I used to work in printing. That is the high rent district. Click on the image for a larger version.
I wouldn’t do something that bad for a joke piece here on O’DonnellWeb. I’ve heard of Judson University, and my general impression was favorable. Was. Photoshop fail aside, Michelle says there are actually some interesting articles in it about financing college, scholarships, etc. So thanks Christian College Guide. Just don’t expect to see either one of my kids attending one of your advertiser’s schools. It’s not really their scene.

There’s a trend recently in the corporate world to make logos, flyer art, &c. more attention getting by making it less slick. I tried to find an article I read recently about a CEO getting his young daughter to hand-draw his new company’s logo for their website, but I can’t find it.
I don’t know. They are pitching the architecture school here. That is one place where precision and high quality would sort of be expected. The school is over $30K a year – it’s not some rinky dink unaccredited school.
I’m w/ Stoddart. It has to be an intentional attempt to be “edgy.” Nobody could be THAT bad at Photoshop.
I got a problem with the idea of showing an erratically flying airplane buzzing a skyscraper!
Holy crap! I didn’t even the notice the airplane in the drawing at the top.
That is all stylistic, and not a poor attempt at photoshop. There has been a trend for the past 4-5 years to create graphic design that looks handmade/crafty (ala Etsy).
I had a friend who went to Judson for a while, I visited there once. My alma mater is probably in that magazine: Olivet Nazarene University.
