Major Obama Fail on military policy?

Is he seriously suggesting that the US Govt should bail on its responsibilities to injured soldiers by dumping their health care costs on private insurance?

I can’t think of any more fundamental responsibility of government than the medical care of those injured in defending it.

    See blog I linked for defenses of Obama in the comments. I’m going with the assumption that the VA would not be freaking out if they didn’t have reason to. Will retract if new evidence comes to light.

    The American Legion & VFW can be just a political as any other special interest organization. For me it’s the principal of the issue more than the dollars. Contrary to what the far right lemmings in the homeschool community believe about me, I am as pro-military as you can get. If we (the taxpayers) are going to send them off to fight, then we have to pay the tab on their injuries. It’s a non-negotiable point for me.

    How the hell am I supposed to understand an issue like this? Both sides are flinging so much sand in our eyes and waving the flag so furiously, we don’t stand a chance of making a reasonable assessment of what’s going on.

    Saving money? That’s the point of this? Saving tax dollars?

    At the expense of soldier’s employers when they return home?

    Or Medicare should pay? How is that different from the VA paying?

    Is the treatment the soldier receives better if he has private insurance? The same? Worse?

    I am very confused I thought there was to be a push to Universal Health Care for the uninsured to save $ for the government but government insured health care for soldiers is a bad thing??

    Chris I am with you… I believe the government should do all it can to help our veterans that fight for our country.

    I watched some of the AIG hearing today… our government is totally FUBAR! It doesn’t matter who is in office.
