I’m also troubled by, not what Senator McCain says, but what members of the party say. And it is permitted to be said such things as, “Well, you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim.” Well, the correct answer is, he is not a Muslim, he’s a Christian. He’s always been a Christian. But the really right answer is, what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer’s no, that’s not America. Is there something wrong with some seven-year-old Muslim-American kid believing that he or she could be president? Yet, I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion, “He’s a Muslim and he might be associated terrorists.” This is not the way we should be doing it in America…
Exactly. With Powell “out” I expect we’ll see a few more prominent Republicans endorsing Obama over the next week or two.
Who wants to be the first one to leave the “it’s just because Obama is black” rationale in the comments?

It’s just because Obama is black.
:::ducking and running:::
The Republican’s stupidly choose someone that very few Republicans supported.
Thad Cochran, the mild-mannered senior U.S. senator from Mississippi, made news in late January with this comment about his Senate colleague and fellow Republican, John McCain: “The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.”
Supposedly Cochran and McCain did make up after that, but …………….I really wouldn’t be surprised if Cochran endorsed Obama. He has enough clout in Mississippi he could weather the storm. I actually think Obama has a slim chance of winning Mississippi. And if Cochran endorses him his chances improve greatly.
Rush said it best, “How many white liberals has he endorsed?”
Wow. You have visitors who listen to Rush??
I have always loved Colin Powell, but never more so than yesterday. That man is eloquent! Wait. Maybe that’s a bad thing. The next critique will be that he, too, is elitist and that his cohesive sentences are just not what the country needs when instead we can have jibberish Juneau.
If your argument is based on Rush, you have already lost the argument.
Find ONE White Liberal he has endorsed, if its not about race he would of endorsed John Kerry, if it weren’t about race he would have endorsed Obama during the primaries. If it weren’t about race he would campaign for Obama. If it weren’t about race he wouldn’t wait until 2 weeks out when the national polls start to tighten. I wonder how fast the “Uncle Tom” comments from the past 8 years were erased off the liberal websites today.
So if he had endorsed McCain, would that have been about race?
Or are you just calling Powell a liar?

Not so sure that Powell was ever a conservative. With all the money that Obama’s raised thus far in the campaign, Washington is lining up to get its piece of an Obama presidency. I’m sure we’ll see Powell emerge in some leadership capacity if Obama wins. Maybe Secretary of Defense?
It is possible to be both a conservative and an Obama supporter:
