I think the former Catholic priest that lived down the road from us is getting off easy with a 51 month sentence. That works out roughly to 1 year per $250,000 stolen.
Update: Apparently the judge agrees with me. He overrode the prosecutions recommended sentenced and slapped him with 63 months, no credit for time served, and $591,484.08 in restitution. His wife apparently gets off scott-free, which makes no sense to me. She knew Catholic priests didn’t make enough to support their lifestyle.
