Also promoted from the comments of the college admission post, VCU (that school that knocked Duke out of the NCAAs last night) has established engineering scholarships specifically for homeschooled students from VA that want to pursue an engineering degree.
The Dean also said that VCU wants to be “the first choice for homeschooled students who wish to continue their post-secondary education in engineering,” and that the school recognizes “the unique value of the homeschooling experience in preparing students for success in engineering.”
4 or 5 years ago people would ask me if I was worried about the difficulties of homeschoolers and college admissions. I always answered that the trend was clearly in homeschoolers favor and that the challenges would work themselves out long before I had to worry about it. I called that one
