The Ramen King is dead

Momofuku Ando, the founder of Nissin Food Products and inventor of the instant Ramen noodle, passed away at age 96.

He made it to 96 on a diet loaded with instant ramen noodles. That’s good news for all of us.

There was many a weekend in college when my diet consisted of ramen noodles and beer. We used to buy the noodles on sale 10 packs for a dollar. I still occasionally bust out the ramen noodles at lunchtime.

I and my family still eat ramen, though very often when we do now, now that we are adults, we make it “good.” Sautee some onion and carrot and cabbage, a little garlic and ginger, then make them like normal. It makes a cheap meal healthy.

Word has that the FSM himself came down to retrieve the now sainted soul of dear Momofuku. His name shall be whispered in reverence for all eternity.
